Vacations: Great for you and your family but usually pretty bad for your health. Since we’re in the full swing of summer vacations, this seemed like an appropriate time to give tips on how to survey your next trip!
Everyone needs a vacation every now and then — they’re great for reducing your stress levels. However, vacations also present many opportunities for poor health habits, including buffets of carb-loaded foods and sweets, limited time to exercise and fewer opportunities to catch a good night’s rest.
Here are a few helpful tips to help you on your vacation:
- If you’re part of eXcel Wellness, don’t skip taking your nutritional supplements. Seriously, just don’t do it. You need the extra energy to be on-the-go all the time! If you’re flying and have questions about what’s allowed, reach out to us and we’re happy to answer your questions for you on how you should pack items.
- Most hotels and resorts have an exercise area of some sort. Sure, it might not be what you’re used to, but it definitely is better than nothing! Or, take time on your vacation to explore the area’s hiking and biking trails. That’s fun for the WHOLE family!
- When it comes to meals, make WISE choices! If you know of certain foods you’re drawn to that aren’t so great for you, avoid that part of the buffet line or don’t even flip to that section of the menu. Remember, it might taste good at the time, but you likely will regret the decision later. If you want to indulge, try not to do it every meal. We believe in moderation — NOT deprivation! If you can, do a little research before you go about which places you’d like to eat. Many restaurants have their menus online. Don’t forget to think about how alcoholic drinks also affect your caloric intake!
We wish you happy, healthy vacations this summer!
