In November 2020, team member Ronna Perkins knew she had a choice to make. Dealing with the loss of her 19-year-old son, Ronna knew she had to make some changes to improve her mental and physical health.
“My choice was to fight,” she said. “My choice was to live. My choice was to regain my mental state. I had to be the healthiest me I could be mentally and physically, not only for my angel in heaven but my ‘Happy’ here on earth. ‘Happy’ is our youngest adult son who requires 24/7 care with multiple disabilities since birth.”
In her first eight days, Ronna lost 8 pounds and more than 9 inches. She went on to lose 60 pounds and 38 inches.
“Within the first eight days — I’m talking seriously like the third day — I felt so refreshed in my sleep/rest,” she said. “My focus was improving, which was a big non-scale victory because anyone who knows what it’s like to maintain care for one with disabilities, knows the importance of structure.”
Ronna, who lives in Grantville, Kansas, said she loves all the tools our wellness system provides.
“Well laid-out meal plans/suggestions and a great 8-day body detox … but honestly, the community of Facebook groups that have been designed for us to reach out to for help, tips, recipes and support are just amazing,” she said.
November marked one year since Ronna’s choice to get healthy.
“I never had a goal weight,” she said. “My goal was to live again as my son would want me to do. Thank you Jesus for giving me the strength to live. I have totally overhauled my mental state, gained a solid foundation for healthy eating habits, gained more energy, the ability to focus in stressful situations, gained better sleep and dropped weight.”
