For the past week I’ve been struggling to find words.
You see, last week I hit a huge milestone with Xyngular, the company I’ve been a Brand Partner with for 12 years. Truly, it left me speechless as I don’t quite know how to put into words how life changing and blessed my family has been because of the opportunity.
Staying humble is much more important to me than recognition, so I have struggled to know what to say and how to say it. Today, though, I realized it’s not about me and instead about how this could be the saving grace or inspiration for some other person like it has been for me and my family. So, I speak…
This opportunity has completely changed my family’s entire life from where we were 12 years ago when I was a very financially-challenged, full-time professor and recently-single momma. I said “yes” not because I wanted another job (it was completely the opposite, in fact) but because we NEEDED $500 extra a month just to break even with the standard monthly family expenses.
Since that time when I didn’t know if I’d have gas money to get to work, for groceries or to pay off ever-climbing debt, our situation has been transformed. We’ve been able to live a life that allows the kids to pursue whatever passions and goals they want to chase (which means the world to this momma), travel, live in our dream home/farm, pay for college educations, get a lake home, give to nonprofits and families in need, pay off major debt, etc. Truly, it’s been a blessing in so many ways!!
The PEOPLE who have been on this journey with me are a blessing!! None of it would’ve happened without those who jumped in!! Forever thankful for them, many of which have become my closest friends for life.
The journey hasn’t been without struggles or challenges. There have been highs and lows.
Times my volume was down.
Times I felt defeated due to a business partner I invested a lot in leaving.
Times I worked hours and hours each day and evenings and weekends for months on end.
Times I fell short of a goal.
Times I got told no again and again and again.
Regardless, it’s been WORTH IT!!! No other opportunity could a few hundred dollars be turned into what this has become with zero experience/education/etc. Nothing about me or my situation is special or unique. The only thing I did was not quit. I kept going through good and bad. Through busy and slow. Through all the life happening when I didn’t think I could juggle anything else. Everything.
What I’ve done, ANYONE can do. I truly believe that.
Whatever you are chasing, don’t quit!! Regardless what challenges you are facing, don’t quit!! Regardless what you are dreaming, make changes to make it come true!! I’m still the woman I was all those years ago. Heck, you’ll still find me shopping thrift stores more than name-brand stores and driving a dented, beater car.
But now I’m stronger. And wiser. And so much more … because of this opportunity.
Thankful doesn’t even begin to describe how grateful I am for all it has given my family. I can’t wait to see where this opportunity takes us next! My daughter, Lakin, recently began creating her own X story, which is so amazing to see.
