The most difficult part of Live WELL’s Couch to 5K virtual training was literally getting off the couch, teammate Christi Weldon said.

“After walking the dogs, I dusted off my treadmill because I knew it would make the interval training easier for me,” she said. “I won’t be winning any races, but I definitely feel better than when I was on the couch.”

Christi was one of several Live WELL members who recently completed a 5K after following six weeks of training workouts. The workouts began May 3 and concluded June 20. Each week participants did four workouts.  

“I was pleased and surprised to increase my ability to run without stopping,” she said. Previously, I couldn’t run more that 5 minutes without needing to walk some. I ran the entire time for this 5K.”

Christi joined our wellness team in January 2020 and lost 25 pounds in six months. The Couch to 5K was an opportunity to implement exercise with our meal plan and supplements.  

“My old self would have said, ‘I’m too busy to start Couch to 5K training. With the end of the school year and two graduations, I should wait until June,’” Christi said. “The new me said, ‘I’ll find time for things that are important.’ I’m so glad I didn’t wait!”
