Here are some tips to help you as you prepare:
- Start cutting back on sugar NOW to help avoid a complete detox.
- Do NOT go out and eat ALL the Halloween candy and sugar now before the challenge starts. You will feel miserable.
- Start reading labels and ingredient lists on food packaging. Everything you put in your mouth, turn it around and look at the label.
- Carbohydrates is another word for sugar. Look at everything you put on your plate, and watch what you drink. Things like diet sodas, alcohol, salad dressings and sauces can be tricky. Almost all contain sugar or a sugar substitute.
- Keep in mind even “fake sugar” like artificial sweeteners can make you crave sugar. If you’re allowing yourself to consume those, it’s possible they’re having the same (or worse) effect on you as real sugar.
- Drink more water. If you’re thinking about how full you are with water, you’re not thinking about food or sugar.
- Spoil yourself with meals that you love! If you take everything away that you love, you’ll feel miserable. Plan meals that you know you’re going to look forward to. Be excited about them! Focus on healthy proteins and vegetables.
- Clean out your fridges and pantries of temptations. Try to avoid buying things that don’t align with your health goals.
